The Peltag (European police for look, trend and avant-garde) spends most of its time to write decrees and official recommandations about fashion (among which the critically acclaimed Brain Magazine's Courrier du lundi - Monday post - that provides clear and straight answers to fashion-users' serious issues such as how to wear a short or how not to wear those Kanye West striped sun glasses) : but Peltag is not only about fashion, it's also about general trend and avant-garde, as its name suggests it. For instance, many educational videos about club dancing do's and don'ts have been published, proving that the Peltag has much more to say than just fashion healthiness bullshit.
About music, a new trend seems to be emerging which is worth mentionning here : brass (les cuivres, vous francophones ignorants). And by that I mean brass in 'dance' music (might want to say 'electro' over here), not hunting, of course. Crame (member of The Bigger Splashes crew / Mort Aux Jeunes Paris), acknowledged trendsetter, used to start his dj sets by a piece from this wonderful album Fanfare et trompes de chasses, creating astonishment but also attention among the clubers. Since then, and maybe because my ears got used to the sound of brass, I hear them everywhere. Lately, a mix by Mattie Safer (The rapture bass player and great DJ, in Paris on June 6th, by the way) featured several tracks such as Took The Trompeta, Touch My Horn or Feel The Horns. The end of the set is almost unbearable for regular saxophone haters, although the whole is just a great mix qui déchire sa race (a very very good mix, you poor English speakers who don't use more than 400 words a day).
But there we are : is brass the new dancefloor music DO ?
The question remains open as Peltag agent's are sent all over Europe to gather information about that trend and write reports to be sent to Bruxelles' office very soon.
One thing is sure, though. Playing air-saxo (meaning pretending to play saxo without actually holdig one in your hands) was, is and will always be a club dancing DON'T.
