For balearic people just like you are, last cold days are the baddest days. Four sunny tracks to fight against with : The housey DFA Walter Jones under New Order influence (released on Permanent vacation's last compilation "If this is house i want my money back"), two Lovelock (slide project of Zombi' Steeve Moore - "Tubular" is of course an edit of Mike Oldfield just released on Mindless Boogie, and the aerian "Don't turn away" was a 2008 unsung hit compiled on the non used Eskimo's Cosmic Balearic beats - hi Dirk!). Last one is a very strange, very bancal song from synthetic english 78-81 band called New Musik (max. respect to Sundae, who has putting a name upon this one)...

La Monte Young par Joseph Ghosn
Non content d'etre un journaliste de première division à l'heure où beaucoup des ses collègues ne devraient même pas évoluer en CFA, Joseph Ghosn est aussi à l'origine de l'un de nos blogs préférés... Il sort ces jours-ci un livre sur La Monte Young, l'occasion rêvée de lui ouvrir nos pages :
"je n'ai jamais rencontré La Monte Young, mais je suis déjà allé chez lui, à NYC. Il y habite un appartement avec sa compagne Marian Zazeela et juste au-dessus, il y a leur installation : la Dream house où passe un drone majestueux, sorti d'un synthétiseur analogique aux accords mathématiques dans un environnement lumineux créé par Marian. Il faut y aller pour le croire, regarder la ville à travers la vitre magenta et se laisser bercer par l'omniprésence du bourdonnement, la senteur d'une méditation écrasante. La Monte, toujours habillé comme un biker de Russ Meyer vieilli, rêvait d'une Dream House universelle où des musiciens viendraient jouer contre son drone. Il ne l'a réalisé que partiellement et, parfois, des Dream Houses sont produites ailleurs : il y en a eu une ou deux à Beaubourg dans les années 90 et 2000 et aussi à la Fondation Maeght à St-Paul de Vence dans les années 70. Mais c'est celle de NYC qui reste la plus intensément vivante. C'est là que l'on expérimente le mieux la musique de La Monte qui est devenue introuvable autrement : les disques sont plus rares que rares, collectionnés par des gens qui n'ont même plus le temps de les écouter. Ceux qui ont envie de savoir à quoi ça ressemble peuvent écouter le morceau mis ici : 75 minutes d'un drone fait de cuivres et de silence, le plus beau CD sorti par La Monte, moins harsh que ses deux vinyles de 1969 et 1974. Idéal pour s'endormir sur un canapé et comprendre en rêvant que les jeunes groupes des noughties qui dronent ne sont nés pas ex-nihilo. Et ceux que la vie de La Monte intéresserait (on y croise John Cale, Yoko Ono, Tony Conrad, John Cage et des échos de Spacemen 3 - ce genre de personnages) peuvent lire mon livre qui porte son nom et qu'un éditeur de Marseille, le Mot et Le Reste, vient de sortir. Merci à lui et à La Monte pour tout ce temps joliment passé."
